Virginia Shooting - Trump: 'It's a mental health problem, not a gun problem'

Donald Trump stated Thursday morning that he believes the Virginia shootings were 'not a gun problem' and believes that the issue which should be addressed instead is mental health - believing that former news reporter Bryce Williams was a 'very sick man' and believes that he should of been institutionalised.

"In the old days they had mental institutions for people like this because he was really, definitely borderline and definitely would have been and should have been institutionalised" this had lead several Presidential candidates to weigh in with their opinions on gun crime and also Barack Obama, who described the Virginia shootings as "heart-breaking" and "one more argument for why we need to look at how we can reduce gun violence in this country" 2016 presidential candidate Hilary Clinton further backed Obama's claim, tweeting out "We are smart enough - compassionate enough - to figure out how to balance legitimate Second Amendment rights with preventive measures".

These opinions seem to hardly phase Trump however, who described himself as "a very strong Second Amendment person" and continuously reiterates his belief that more money and funding should be forwarded to the mental health industry, to help out individuals in need who may be suffering or on the verge of following on the actions of that we saw of Bryce Williams on early Wednesday morning.

Throughout this interview Trump appeared almost uninformed on exactly how dangerous gun crime is and how exactly being allowed possession of a gun is still continuously causing serious problems across the U.S - staying unbiased on the topic of Donald Trump is quite hard/near to impossible,  but with opinions like the ones he has shown here, the chances of him being taken as a serious presidential candidate in 2016 may not be as likely as he appears to believe.
